Rinaldi Francesco
The Francesco Rinaldi is an ancient and prestigious winery located on the Cannubi hill, the most famous in the Barolo area. Founded in the 19th century by Giovanni Rinaldi, the winery was inherited in 1922 by his son Francesco, who gave it his name. Since then, its bottles of Barolo have graced the tables that have made the history of our country: for example, in 1949, during Italy's accession to the Atlantic Pact. The management of the winery subsequently passed into the hands of Luciano and Michele, sons of Francesco, and today the business is carried on by Paola and Piera, who have managed to expand the market abroad as well: especially in the United States, but also in Northern Europe and the East.
The vineyard of the Francesco Rinaldi winery extends with a South-East exposure over 11 hectares in the municipalities of Barolo, Castiglione Falletto, and La Morra, among the most important of the denomination. The Rinaldi wines gather the richness of the territory: it ranges from the compact and marly soils of the Elveziano period in the municipality of Castiglione Falletto, to those richer in clay from the Tortoriano period present in La Morra. And in Barolo, limestone, clay, and sand are found, which give the wines balance, harmony, color, and typical aromas of the territory. The cultivated grape varieties are Nebbiolo, Barbera, and Dolcetto.
The original winery with barrel vaults has been expanded over the years and tradition merges with technology to optimize work and preserve the peculiarities of the wine. After long fermentations, the wine is aged in rooms carved underground, in contact with the hill, in Slavonian oak barrels. In the Francesco Rinaldi winery, one can breathe all the passion of a family dedicated to enhancing the land of Barolo. The result of all this is wines with great body, intense aromas, full and enveloping flavor.
