Mariotti
The Emiliana winery Mariotti is located in the province of Ferrara, precisely in the Bosco Eliceo area, a territory interpreted through bottles with a typical and sincere identity paying particular attention to bottle refermentation. The roots of the estate go back to 1976, the year in which Giorgio Mariotti founded the project "La Bottega del Vino" to provide analysis and consultancy to wine-growing activities in the area. He also became one of the main promoters of the DOC Bosco Eliceo, established in 1989. In 1998 Giorgio began to vinify on his own while in 2000 he was joined by his son Mirco Mariotti, who, after completing his studies in Oenology at the Università del Sacro Cuore in Piacenza, dedicated himself to the family business along with his sister Barbara. The love of the Mariotti family for their area culminated in the birth of "Terroir Ferrara", a project aimed at enhancing local viticulture.
The 9 hectares of vineyards managed by the Mariotti family are located in the proximity of the Po River delta, in the area commonly referred to as the “Wines of the Sands.” Here, the estate cultivates traditional grape varieties such as Trebbiano Romagnolo, Malvasia di Candia non Aromatica, Malvasia Bianca di Candia Aromatica, and especially the indigenous Fortana, also known as Uva d’Oro. The vines cultivated by the Mariotti family, some of which are centuries old, benefit from the proximity to the Adriatic Sea and are planted on their own roots thanks to the predominantly sandy nature of the soils. The harvest is carried out strictly by hand with careful selection of the bunches, which are usually destemmed, and the vinifications are done entirely spontaneously, mostly in cement tanks, with sparkling wines produced through bottle refermentation, without any disgorgement.
