The Lago di Caldaro Classico Superiore is a identity and territorial wine. It is primarily made from 100% Schiava grapes, a variety that finds its ideal cradle in Alto Adige. Furthermore, as the name suggests, Cantina di Caldaro Kaltern has as its reference point, where the majority of its owned vineyards are concentrated, the Lake that gives its name to the entire denomination. A bottle that impresses, as soon as poured into the glass, for its bright and shining color, a prelude to a fruity nose and a delicate and smooth sip.
The red Lago di Caldaro Classico Superiore originates from pure grapes of a vine that thrives particularly well within the regional borders of Alto Adige, the Schiava. The vines of this variety are cultivated by Cantina di Caldaro Kaltern in vineyards located at an altitude above sea level ranging from 230 to 450 meters, facing south-east. The soil is predominantly composed of limestone and clay. The must ferments at a controlled temperature of 24 degrees, performing malolactic fermentation as well, in steel, macerating for a week. The aging takes place for 4 months, both in steel and in cement, during which the wine remains on the fine lees.
