De Fermo

De Fermo is a winery with ancient origins, located in the highest part of Loreto Aprutino, a fortified town with square shapes and a wonderful panorama situated in the heart of the province of Pescara, in Abruzzo. An enchanting place with a long peasant tradition, hosting numerous olive groves and famous mills, so much so that it is called the "city of oil" for its particular microclimatic and morphological conditions that allow the production of extraordinary quality Aprutino Pescarese. Alongside this lush cultivation, the wonderful vines that "comb" the sinuous hills create a poetic panoramic combination. Here Elisa and Stefano run the winery, founded by the family in 1785, united by their love for nature and their commitment to preserving this natural heritage.

The wines of De Fermo are obtained from the cultivation of Montepulciano, Pecorino, and Chardonnay grapes on predominantly clay soils located at 300 meters above sea level. All production methods are conceived and carried out in full respect of nature, of the natural rhythms of the vine and the fertility of the land. Therefore, low-impact techniques are used, without herbicides, aimed at returning something of what has been given by the plant itself. The harvest is done manually and the whole bunches are left to ferment spontaneously with indigenous yeasts, and no external intervention precludes, modifies, or controls the final result. The aging period, for both reds and whites, takes place either in cement tanks or in tonneau or in Slavonian oak barrels. No clarifications, stabilizations, or filtrations are carried out.

De Fermo is a concrete example of excellent Abruzzese naturalness, a voice out of tune yet perfectly in harmony. The latest generation wanted to imprint this biodynamic turn for a personal research path in the pursuit of depth. The soil is worked "by hand" and the lack of interference with natural and fermentative processes is the signature that in these labels testifies the "craftsmanship" approach that is intended to be adopted. The grapes used are exclusively owned to ensure the homogeneous organoleptic characteristics of the fruits. The integration of other types of crops, such as legumes, olives, and cereals, is a plus that guarantees the maintenance of soil fertility and its richness. "Enjoying the moment" is the goal of Stefano and Eloisa, and their enticing, soft, and rich bottles are the testament to that.
